PSTN Switch Off in Hospitality

If your phone systems go offline, the cost could be much greater than you think. Missed bookings, lost revenue and operational disruption can quickly add up.

With the PSTN switch-off approaching on 31st January 2027, it’s important to understand what’s at stake.

Use our free calculator to estimate how much your hospitality business could potentially lose if your systems go offline, based on the size of your business.

Business type
2. What people book with you by phone

Untick anything you don't take by phone. Calls are per site per month. ?

Adjust the assumptions

The percentage of calls missed, the lost booking rate and the AI recovery rate are independent of each other and apply to each service line on its own. They are not shares of a total, so they do not need to add up to 100%.

Of all inbound calls, the percentage that go unanswered. UK benchmark 20% to 30%; groups have measured up to 60% at peak.

Only counts where someone is dedicated to answering the phone, such as a hotel front desk or a contact centre, so fewer calls means fewer paid hours. On by default for hotels. Off by default for restaurants, where calls are answered between other duties and the wage bill would not fall.

Per-line rates: the lost booking rate is the percentage of that line's missed calls that were a booking never made; the AI recovery rate is the percentage of those lost bookings the AI would win back.

Indicative figures only

These are estimates based on UK industry benchmarks and PrimeTel's live deployments, not a quote. Further qualification is needed before any figure can be relied on: call volumes, missed-call rates, systems and integration requirements are confirmed with you before supplier pricing is firm. Supplier prices are "from" list prices excluding VAT.
